AstroAshva (formerly AastroAstra), published by AVD Studiox Private Limited, turns your birth details into a personal astrological picture: your kundali, numerology, panchang timings, and notifications timed to your chart. To do that, we handle some personal information. This page explains exactly what we collect, why, and the control you have over it. Plain language, no surprises.
What we collect
- Birth details you enter: your name, date of birth, time of birth, and place of birth. These are the inputs for every chart, numerology number, and reading in the app.
- Approximate location: when you allow it, we use your latitude and longitude to compute accurate planetary positions and panchang for where you are. You can decline; charts then use your entered birth place instead.
- Account details: a phone number or email if you sign in, so your saved profiles follow you across sessions and devices.
- Photos you choose to take or upload: a photograph of your palm or your face, only when you start a palm or face reading and only after you agree to it on screen. See Palm and face readings below, which sets out exactly what happens to the photo.
- Basic app & device data: app version, device model, and crash diagnostics that keep the app stable.
- How you use the app: which screens you open and which features you use, linked to an internal account ID rather than your name. You can switch this off. See Analytics and feature settings below.
How we use it
- To generate your kundali, KP and Lal Kitab charts, Lo Shu grid, numerology numbers, and match reports.
- To compute panchang, muhurta, and the timing behind your personalised notifications.
- To write notifications and readings tailored to your chart. Your birth details are sent to our AI provider only to generate that text, they are not used to train third-party models.
- To sync your saved profiles and keep the app working reliably.
- To understand which features are used and where the app fails, so we can improve it, and to decide which features to switch on for your app.
Palm and face readings
These two features work from a photograph, so they get their own rules.
- The photo is not kept. It is sent to our servers, passed to our AI vision provider to be read, and discarded. We do not save it to your account, and we do not store it in any file bucket. Nothing in the app can show you that photo again, because it no longer exists.
- What we do keep is the reading itself, and, for a face reading, the measurements taken from the photo: proportions such as the width of the face against its length. These are stored on your device and in your account so the reading can be shown again and can cite what it was based on.
- Face measurements are biometric data, and we treat them as such. They are used for one thing: producing your reading. They are never used to identify you, never used to recognise you in another photo, never used to find or compare you with another person, and never used for advertising.
- You can delete a reading from the reading itself. Deleting it removes the reading and the measurements from your device and from your account together. Deleting your account removes all of them.
- It is for entertainment. A palm or face reading is a traditional interpretation offered for reflection. It is not medical, psychological, legal or financial advice, and it is not a statement of fact about you.
- We only ask for the camera or your photo library when you start one of these readings, and you can decline. The features simply do not run without a photo.
- Reading someone else: a reading can be taken for another person, so it sits with the rest of what you have saved about them. For a face reading the app asks you to confirm, each time, that the person is with you and has agreed. Their measurements are kept and deleted exactly like your own, and are never used to identify or recognise anybody.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not show third-party advertising built on your birth or location data.
- We do not share your details with anyone except the trusted providers below, and only to run the service.
- We do not use your photo, or anything measured from it, to identify you or to match you with another person.
- We do not let our providers train their models on your data.
- We do not show ads inside the app, we do not sell your data, and we do not use your data to target you with other companies' ads. The only advertising use is measuring our own ads: see Measuring our ads.
Who processes your data
We rely on a small set of vetted providers to run AstroAshva: Supabase, which stores your profiles and reports securely; astrological computation services for chart maths; and AI providers, currently Anthropic and Groq, which write your readings and notifications and which read the photo when you request a palm or face reading; Amplitude, which records app usage for analytics and serves our feature settings (see Analytics and feature settings); Google (Firebase and Google Ads), which measures our own advertising (see Measuring our ads); OneSignal, which delivers the notifications you choose to receive; and RevenueCat, which confirms credit purchases made through Google Play or the App Store. They process data only on our instructions, only to deliver the feature you asked for, and they do not train their models on it.
Analytics and feature settings
We use Amplitude to learn how the app is used and to switch features on or off remotely. Here is exactly what that involves.
- What is collected: app interactions, such as the screens you open, the features you use, and whether a feature worked or failed; your app version; your device model and operating system version; and your approximate country, worked out from your connection. These are linked to an internal account ID, a random code we create for your account, and to a random ID created when the app is installed. Neither is your phone number or email.
- What is never collected: your birth details, your name or the names of people you add, your phone number, your email address, the content of your chats or readings, your photos, and your precise location.
- Why: to improve the app, to find and fix problems, and to decide which features to show. For feature settings, the app sends Amplitude your internal account ID and the install ID so it can tell the app which features to turn on for you.
- Who processes it: Amplitude, Inc., based in the United States. This means the data is transferred to and stored outside India. Amplitude processes it only on our instructions, and does not use it for advertising or sell it.
- How long we keep it: we keep analytics data only for as long as it is useful for the purposes above, and it is never linked back to you after your account is deleted.
- How to turn it off: go to Settings → Share usage analytics in the app and switch it off. It is on by default. Once it is off, the app stops sending usage events. Feature settings are still fetched, because the app needs them to work, but nothing about how you use the app is recorded.
- Deleting your account: when you delete your account, the analytics tied to your internal account ID are permanently unlinked from you: the ID no longer points to any account, so the data can no longer be connected to you.
Measuring our ads
We advertise AstroAshva on Google. To learn which of our ads bring people who actually use the app, the app uses Google Analytics for Firebase.
- What is sent: that the app was opened for the first time, that you signed up (and whether by phone, Google or email), that you made your first Kundali, and that you bought credits (the pack and its price). These events carry your internal account ID. Firebase also records basic app usage such as sessions and app updates.
- Advertising ID: on Android, Firebase reads your device's advertising ID so Google Ads can tell which ad led to an install. On iPhone the app does not read the advertising ID and never asks to track you; Apple's privacy-preserving ad measurement is used instead.
- What is never sent: your birth details, names, phone number, email address, chats, readings, photos or precise location.
- Who processes it: Google LLC, in the United States and other countries, under Google's terms for Firebase and Google Ads. We turn off ad personalisation signals, so this data is used to measure our campaigns, not to build advertising profiles of you.
- How to turn it off: Settings → Share usage analytics turns off both Amplitude and Firebase on your device. On Android you can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's Google settings.
Where it is kept, and for how long
Photographs used for a palm or face reading are not retained at all: they are discarded as soon as the reading is produced. Your profiles are stored securely with our cloud provider and kept while your account is active. Generated reports are cached so you do not wait for them twice; they refresh when you update your birth details. You can remove a saved profile from within the app at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account data entirely.
Your choices
- Delete any saved profile from inside the app.
- Delete any palm or face reading, and the measurements taken from it, from the reading itself.
- Turn location permission on or off in your device settings at any time.
- Turn notifications off from your device or the app.
- Turn usage analytics off in the app under Settings → Share usage analytics.
- Email us to access or delete the data tied to your account. See Delete your account for exactly what is removed and what is kept.
Children
AstroAshva is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes
As the app grows we may update this policy. When we make a meaningful change we will update the date above and, where appropriate, note it in the app.
